Warmer weather usually marks a time for fundraiser social events, marathons, walkathons, and every other type of “athons” to raise awareness and support for an array of causes. Unfortunately, many of these events have been canceled or postponed. Charities, and those they benefit, rely on these events to provide the needed funding.
These causes that we support with our charitable giving have not paused during this turmoil. In most situations, the needs have only grown. Unfortunately, with the cancellation of so many fundraisers, the funding to support these causes is drying up.
A Heartfelt Reminder
I was recently reminded of this need when an event close to my heart announced they were canceling this year’s fundraiser. The 3rd annual Minneapolis Metsquerade benefiting METAvivor had been on my calendar since the lights were turned off on last year’s event. It is recognized as the largest local benefit of its kind for METAvivor.
We had been supporting this event since its inception. And that’s when the light turned on in my head. I was saying it wrong. We were not supporting an event, we are supporting a cause.
Minneapolis Metsquerade 2019
Last year, the 2nd annual Minneapolis Metsquerade, with sponsorships like The Priebe Wealth Management Group and individual contributions, was able to raise over $370,000 for the non-profit, METAvivor. This is a unique event and organization with a focus on fighting Stage 4 Metastic Breast Cancer (MBC). METAvivor, is the sole US organization dedicated to awarding annual stage 4 breast cancer research and exists to sustain the hope for those living with MBC.
It is because of people like the Remme family, which you can read more about HERE, that we continue the fight for the 3rd year. Although the event has been canceled, the fight has not, and we will continue to sponsor and support causes that are important to us. We Stand With All Those Fighting
Our team recognizes that during times of uncertainty and discomfort, we must reply with great fortitude and continue to support and stand with all those fighting. That’s why we will continue to support the Causes close to us, including our local churches, youth athletic programs, METAvivor, MN Teen Challenge, Feed My Starving Children, and others. I encourage everyone to join us by remembering the causes close to your hearts and act upon it. Do it in your own way, whatever that might be, whether through a church group, local food shelf, youth group, or national organization.
